I started karate March 2002. I thought I wasn’t going to like karate,
because I didn’t know how to fight, and I didn’t know if I wanted
to fight. Before I knew it I was in my first promotion. I noticed that I was wrong
when I thought that I wasn’t going to like karate. I made a lot of new friends.
When I was a blue belt with a stripe, in 2003, I was told that there was a big
tournament coming up, so I started training. In that tournament I won first place,
and my yellow belt! When the tournament came up again, I participated. In my first
fight I lost, and it was very upsetting for me. Since then, I’ve gotten
better, because I learned new combos and how to trick people while I fight. I
hope I win first place again in my next tournament. Post Script: After winning
the North Los Angeles tournament in June 2004, Donald won the prestigious Little
Tokyo Tournament in October, becoming the first fighter in the tournament's history
to capture titles in 2 different age divisions. He repeated his championship reign
winning the North L.A. Tournament in 2005 & 2006, and won 2nd Place @ Little
Tokyo in 2005. |
