EVENTS 5th North Los Angeles Tournament On
July 26th, Eagle Rock hosted the 5th Annual North L.A. full-contact Kyokushin
tournament. Of the 8 fighters competing from Eagle Rock Dojo, 4 captured the title
in their division, 2 won second place, and the remaining 2 fighters earned bronze.
In four divisions, we won all four titles. This was a testament to hard work and
many hours spent training in the dojo, and running up long staircases on hot summer
mornings. Congratulations to all fighters for their efforts & achievements.
Look for further details in the upcoming newsletter.

Balcaceres promoted to Ju Kyu. John "Bonecrusher" Ventenilla
and Brianna "Scrappy" Rancour-Ibarra promoted to Ku Kyu.

Tournament Geghard "G-Man" Arakelian,
fighting in his first tournament, won 2nd place at Pacoima on Sunday, October
7th. Fighting as a lightweight in a division with middleweight fighters, G-Man
consistently outfought his opponents with strong punch combinations. He eventually
lost in the final match by the slimmest of margins, 3-2, in double overtime. In
spite of the potential controversy of the decision, Geghard showed the utmost
class, raising his opponent's hand at the end of the match. He fought and behaved
like a true champion. 4th
